![]() ![]() Based on our family flow right now, a Waaswaaganing Indian Bowl Pow Wow might be possible this summer. Closer, in Lac du Flambeau, we’re aiming to spend a weekday at the Ojibwe museum. Meet Our Ojibwe NeighborsĪ few years ago, we became enchanted by the Ojibwe exhibition in Madeline Island Museum. ![]() We always find the joy and mastery of the skiers to be contagious. (And for adults, read the f ood activities list!) Marvel at Water Skiing TricksĮstablished in the 1950s, the Min-Aqua Bats ski show continues to be a central attraction in town several nights a week all summer long. Hopefully, our summer goal list will get your mind thrumming with fresh ideas. Coming up with a bag of tricks that satisfies kids isn’t easy, especially if your vacation rental is in a new-to-you Northwoods location. When would you like to set down your urban or suburban pleasures and a former camp counselor, I appreciate the need to pace kids through focused activities and wild free time. When you step into a stand of white pines, you can’t help but reset yourself. The places most of us live are far away from this kind of sensory immersion. Watch a summer storm tumble across your view. Feel the crisp lake breeze as you paddle along the lake shore. Go ahead and imagine the sounds of loons and the lapping water. You already know this, but sometimes we forget: nature is a reset button. Enough said? Reset Your Energy, Naturally Physical distance can give you new perspective. Open up some space in your heart by shaking up your surroundings. When you’re out of your habitual daily habits, your mental habits have a way of loosening up too. It’s easier to feel satisfied when the choices are 1) take a lake dip, 2) watch the eagles dive for fish, or 3) stare at the stars. Most days, you can do all three! That leaves several reliable 2-hour blocks for deep work. Remote spots reduce the number of tantalizing activities you can consider any given day. At the very least, only the most pressing chores will persist once you’re away. Whether those things are relationships, gardens, or finances that need to be tended, most can wait till you get back. There are countless “shoulds” everywhere you look at home. Whether you join us in the Wisconsin Northwoods or head to another remote corner of the woods, you’ll get more done away from home. If you are anywhere within minutes of one of their locations you should go, trust me it's worth the drive, especially if it's a nice hot day out.Are you working on a book? Are you trying to synthesize your research? Are you working out your MVP? If you’re planning a creative, academic or business sabbatical, why not sit yourself down with a panoramic lakefront view? Incubating any idea is easier. I thought most places like this died out awhile ago but I am quite happy to be wrong in this instance. We will definitely be going here any and every chance we get. Not at Briq's though! Our entire order, which consisted of a 1lb cone, med cone, small cone, and med cookie dough mixer, only came to $! We loved it so much that 3 days later we decided to drive another 1hr min to have it again. But on top of all of that I almost couldn't believe how inexpensive they were, at other famous "Dairy" places for the 4 of us it is usually well over the $ mark just for ice cream. The 1lb cone was gigantic and quite a fun novalty with the kids especially after hiking up at Rib Mountain in ☏+. "Best soft serve ice cream we have ever had! "home of the 1lb cone" is why we decided to stop and give it a try, and we were not disappointed at all. I'm not giving this place any more of my money." ![]() Keep getting sone kind of chocolate bar, (A different one everytime),when there should be NO chocolate in it, and after that the only ingredient they got right is on top not even blended in. ![]() But one correct flavor in a 5 ingredient flurry. Once in a while a mistake isn't a problem. I haven't gotten an order correct for the last four orders. Since then nothing but small! Keep up the great work!" Portions are crazy big, so order wisely! Made a mistake and ordered a medium one time. "Briq's is a special treat! They use a TON of toppings, and make the treats extra special. I wish I lived across the street but I’d get so fat! LOL" "Very pleasantly surprised! The sundaes were great and the prices were extremely reasonable. "Fast friendly service and absolutely amazing ice cream treats that keep you coming back for more." ![]()
